Project overview

A staggering 972 bicycle space capacity bike store at the newest City of London skyscraper, 8 Bishopsgate.

We worked closely with Balguard Engineering to supply and install all cycle spaces, plus assist with design plans.

With close to 1,000 spaces, the building has one of the highest cycle parking provisions in the country. This wouldn’t be possible without our two-tier bike rack, which doubles capacity compared to a regular stand, while still ensuring a high level of usability and durability.

Like nearby 22 Bishopsgate, the bike store is designed to offer the best possible first impression on arrival for the hundreds of London commuters expected to cycle to the workplace each morning.

Our two-tier bike racks are gas-assisted to allow for easy lifting into the upper tray, with a noise dampening system to keep disturbance to a minimum.

Alongside the two-tier racks are vertical racks which are mounted to both walls and individual posts to add extra capacity in the tight basement area. To accommodate for non-standard bike types, 32 Sheffield stands are included throughout the store.

Folding bike lockers help account for the growing popularity of Brompton-style bikes, and are numbered to help the user locate their locker easily. In total, 99 lockers have been installed in the bike store.

The entire facility features a bright yellow colour scheme, with our yellow RAL powder coated lockers, and red spring covers adding extra brightness to the basement bike store.

Intuitive navigation from street level through to the bike store makes cycling to 8 Bishopsgate straightforward and welcoming. After you come through the bike store, there are over 600 lockers, showers, and changing areas before moving up to the 50 floors of premium

Our installation teams worked to the site’s tight schedule, handling the complex logistics of a central London delivery.

The finished product is a bike store with a high quality finish throughout, that will serve to help bring more employees using active means of transport.
