Earlier this week Turvec and our European distribution partners travelled to Rotterdam for the Klaver Distributor Conference 2022.
It was the third year of the event – the previous two years on hold due to Covid – and gave us the opportunity to catch up and discuss European cycle parking developments across France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Sweden.
Klaver Fietsparkeren are our long term partners and manufacturers of the 2ParkUp bike racks and Cubic cycle shelters, among others. With distributors across Europe, they’ve helped form a network of like-minded companies all looking to install high quality cycle parking infrastructure.
The conference featured updates on exciting new innovations from Klaver, with an informative and inspiring presentation from Willy Sweers, cycling policy advisor for the region of Rotterdam.
Bike Tour Rotterdam
On Day 2 we set out on bikes to explore the city and visit some key installations including both Centraal and Blaak stations.
As we know all too well, cycling in the Netherlands is a vastly different experience to the UK. But as we heard from Will Sweers, the Dutch aren’t standing still – instead continuing the push for greater infrastructure and smarter solutions to urban mobility.
The bicycle lanes were all exceptionally well-paved, fully segregated, and easy to navigate. The wide streets of Rotterdam feature grass covered tram tracks and car and bicycle traffic flowing effortlessly.
Our first stop was Rotterdam Centraal station, where more than 2,200 2ParkUp spaces were approaching full capacity. The facility was busy with commuters parking bicycles, with the racks functioning perfectly and quietly.
After a sightseeing detour over the Erasmus bridge, we continued on the serene cycle lanes to Rotterdam Blaak station where a further 1,000 two-tier spaces are set within a tree lined parking facility.
It is brilliant to see these large scale installations of the 2ParkUp that showcase both its superior durability, usability, and noise-reduction.
We are already looking forward to next years’ conference!
